Vaccination Event - Friday, January 7, 2022

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday Cabrillo Families,
Happy New Year Cabrillo!
2022 will be the year we begin our long exit from the pandemic. It starts with a January surge in positive cases that is sure to touch us all then drop sharply like as it has in South Africa and the British Isles. The good news is this variant goes no farther than the upper respiratory system and has little effect on individuals who are triple vaccinated.
Cabrillo is here to help by providing free vaccinations through our partnership with Bay Area Community Health (BACH). BACH vaccinated 343 individuals in a 4-hour span at Cabrillo on December 17th. Those of you who received your first dose in December will receive your second dose on Friday, January 7 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm in the Cabrillo Cove.  I urge you to reach out to family and friends who have not been vaccinated or received their booster shot. Ask them to register at
The vaccinations include:

  • Low dose Pfizer vaccines to children 5 years through 11
  • First, second and booster doses are also available for 12 and older

In order to ensure this Vaccination Event runs smoothly and provides the maximum number of vaccinations in the four hour window, BACH is requesting that families register in advance. Remember:

  • Everyone must wear a mask
  • Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent to be vaccinated
  • Walk-ups are accepted, but registration is highly recommended to help reduce your wait time

Returning to School
As I referenced above, estimates have the surge continuing for the next 4-6 weeks. Before your child returns to school, please give them an Antigen rapid covid test. Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) is providing free at-home test kits to all interested students and staff to use before returning to sites in January 2022 to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
FUSD will provide an antigen rapid test kit with instructions for use and result reporting, and information on our symptom and positive test protocols. Each kit has two tests, which should be taken one and three days before returning to school/work (January 7 and January 9) to best prevent the spread of COVID-19 on our campus.
FUSD is hosting two distribution events to allow families and staff to pick up test kits while supplies last:

  • Dates: January 5 & 6, 2022
  • Time: 10am to 2pm
  • Location: FUSD District Office, 4210 Technology Drive
  • Note: one test kit will be provided for each FUSD student/staff member as requested

We all need to work together to make sure we provide the safest learning environment at Cabrillo for our staff and students. Wear a mask. Get vaccinated. Be a part of the solution. I look forward to greeting you back to school on Monday.
