    Weekly Letter to the Community, Week 22 of Distance Learning

    Good Morning and Happy Sunday Cabrillo Families,
    Parent Workshop
    Counselor Marcela Amezcua will be hosting a parent workshop on Tuesday, January 26 from 6:30-7:30pm for Cabrillo families.  The Zoom link to the workshop is included on the flyer linked here and attached to the Bright Arrow message you received today. The workshop, titled Motivating Your Children During Distance Learning, is a great opportunity for your families to get suggestions, tips, and ideas on family self-care, fostering a growth mindset towards learning, setting up effective rewards and consequences, and setting up a learning environment at home for your student. The presentation will only be offered in English. Ms. Amezcua will host a separate parent workshop in Spanish with this same information (date TBD).
    Cabrillo PTA
    Your Cabrillo PTA needs your help! The Pandemic and Stay at Home order have reduced attendance at PTA Meetings. Per our bylaws, we will need families willing to volunteer to take on leadership positions on the PTA Executive Board.  A strong PTA will be needed when we return to school next year to provide support to teachers and the Cabrillo Community. Please email me at dthornley@fusdk12.net or call the school number (510) 792-3232 to let me know your interest or answer any questions you may have.

    Ordering a Yearbook
    Yearbooks are on sale and the link can be found on the Cabrillo webpage. We have 100  yearbooks for sale this year which I anticipate will sell out very quickly. A flyer is going out in the distribution baskets in the Cafeteria this week. The yearbook can only be purchased online due to the pandemic. 

    Yearbook Cover 
    This is the last week of our Cabrillo Yearbook Cover Contest! This is a great opportunity for your student to create the winning entry that will be forever memorialized on the cover of our 2020-2021 yearbook. Please encourage your student to contribute! 

    Materials Distribution This Week
    Contactless delivery for this week: 3rd Grade on Wednesday and 2nd Grade on Friday. The cafeteria doors are open from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm.
