Good Afternoon and Happy Sunday Cabrillo Families,
The Better Angels of Our Nature
The events of Wednesday in our Nation’s Capitol continue to reverberate and may have become topics of discussion in Cabrillo households. Yesterday I watched a piece on the Times website that got me thinking. This is an opportunity to reflect. For a long time. And then reflect some more. Rather than feel helpless, I choose to be inspired by the timeless wisdom of President Lincoln. He reminded us of who we are in the closing words of his 1st Inaugural when addressing the impending Civil War:

I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.

Introducing Miss Marisa Galvez
Cabrillo has hired several new teachers. Today I am happy to introduce Miss Marisa Galvez, First Grade Superstar. Miss Galvez has a few words about why she is happy to be a member of the Cabrillo Family. Take it away Miss Galvez.

Ordering a Yearbook
Our yearbooks are now on sale! We will have only 100  yearbooks for sale this year which I anticipate will sell out very quickly. A flyer is going out in the distribution baskets in the Cafeteria. It can be found here and above. The yearbook can only be purchased online due to the pandemic. Let me show you how easy it is to purchase a yearbook.

Yearbook Cover
Our Yearbook Cover Contest runs through the month of January. This is a great opportunity for your student to create the winning entry that will be the cover of our 2020-2021 yearbook. Please encourage your student to contribute!

Yearbook Photo Uploader
Speaking of yearbooks, keep the images coming! Click the Upload Yearbook Photos found under my weekly video. Use your student’s Google account for verification. Click the Add File uploader then select the images from your phone. Enter your student’s first and last name, select their grade level, then choose their teacher from the drop down list. Add a quick statement on what the student is doing to help us as we create the yearbook. Finally select the date so we know when the event occurred. Press submit and now you have added images we will be able to use in our 2020-2021 yearbook.

Materials Distribution This Week
Contactless delivery for this week: 1st Grade on Monday. The cafeteria doors are open from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm.
