November 17 - November 20: Parent Teacher Conferences

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Cabrillo Families,
Parent-teacher conferences can be a challenge even at the best of times. Adding technology to a virtual conference can feel like a blessing or a curse-or both. The good news is, the general purpose of the conference is the same with a different format. Teachers will appreciate your concern and involvement.
This is a good time to ask questions.

  • “What is my student’s strongest/weakest subject areas; which subjects does s/he likes most and least”
  • “How can I best support my child in distance learning?”
  • “Helpful sites to help with his/her anxiety?”

This is also a good time to share information you want the teacher to know. This can include information about your student’s distance learning experience, any major changes in your family, habits, hobbies, or anything that may clarify your student’s academic experience for the teacher.
Also, listen carefully to what the teacher says. They have spent a great deal of time preparing valuable distance learning experiences and documenting your student’s progress. If you don’t understand something that the teacher talks about (educational term, or an explanation of a school policy) don't be afraid to ask for clarification. Also, ask the teacher for specific suggestions of ways that you can help your child at home in their classroom for one. Linked to the email sent today is a checklist of questions you may want to refer to during your conference.
Parent Portal
After Parent-Teacher Conferences, parents will have access to their student’s report card starting November 23rd through the parent portal When you successfully enter the Parent Portal, you will see Report Card on the Navigation bar. Click Report Card then you will have access to your student’s previous report cards. You will have access to the first trimester report card after Monday, November 23. Let us know if we can help you.
