November 12 Board Meeting - Return to Campus Planning

Good Morning and Happy Sunday Cabrillo Families,

Last week you received the Superintendent’s Newsletter in an email from Superintendent Cammack. In the newsletter, he updated families about the continued development of plans for a future return to campus for in-person instruction. On Thursday, November 12, the Board of Education will be provided a comprehensive update on the requirements, guidelines, and recommendations regarding how to safely return students and staff to campus in the future.

Your Cabrillo teachers have done phenomenal work on building out platforms for distance learning. They are working harder than ever to serve your students. That being said, nothing can fully replicate the benefits of an in-person learning experience. As Superintendent Cammack noted, the topic of returning to school carries high levels of concern and intense emotions - it directly connects to the personal and collective safety of your students, our staff, and our community. I encourage you to watch the board meeting on Thursday. The Superintendent’s staff will provide the Board of Education with updated information and further direction on the future return to in-person instruction.

You will be able to access the live meeting by registering here. If you are interested in providing public comment in written or oral format for this item you can do so, by accessing the link for written communication here. Student Council
Now that we have resolution of the national election, it’s time to dive deep into our local election. That’s right Cabrillo, student council elections will be held on Thursday, November 12. Mr. Charbonneau and Mrs. Bhatt have been working with the candidates to prepare a brief video which is being assembled for the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classes to play. Voting takes place during lunch with the electronic polling place opening at 12:35 and closing at 1:20. Unlike Pennsylvania, we will have results by the end of the school day!
